If you already have a website, then you probably are using it as your brochure. Most likely packed with a lot of information about what your business is about and how to contact you.

But something not every website has is a contact form. Something as simple as a contact form to both collect and track new inquiries. Even one page “under construction” type websites should have a contact form.

Reason #1: To prevent Spam

Previously the most common practice was to add an email address to your website so visitors could email you directly. However this presents a problem, because once you put your email address on your website spammers will find it and start sending you spam. When you do this you might get a lot of email that for the most part is not from a real person, or from a visitor to your website.

Reason #2: To make sure you get the Message

This may sound obvious but using a form with a unique email address can actually help to filter out bogus messages. As well you can address them to the correct email address such as support@domainname.com or sales@domainname.com to make sure the right person gets the message. In addition you can also add a subject line which which help to filter these messages within your inbox or in Microsoft Outlook.

Reason #3: Helps to make your Website more user friendly

Why require your visitors to remember which email address to use when they can just fill out your contact form. And you will route the message accordingly. Also by having a prominent “Contact Us” link on your website you can make it easy to find your Contact form.
